29.07.2011 - The Ignition Distributor Is Vital For The Car

Starting and ignition systems are vital for the Fan Clutch and they both require electricity to operate.

Troubleshooting electrical problems

Here are some guidelines for troubleshooting:

One should make sure that the automatic transmission is in the correct gear and the clutch on a manual transmission is completely depressed. If the car doesn’t make a noise when it is started, check the battery terminal connections and then look for other loose connections in the Idle Motor.

Replacing the Car’s Starter

For replacing the starter Steering Wheel Cover or starter solenoid, follow these steps:

First, remove the negative cable from the battery.

Locate the starter, it is a nearly three inches round motor located at one side or the other of the flywheel. The solenoid is probably mounted on the side of the starter.

Disconnect the battery cable and other wires attached to the starter or solenoid.

Remove the solenoid and starter by removing two bolts that mount the starter. Be careful not to drop the starter. In case the solenoid is not attached to the starter then remove it from the firewall.
Replace or repair the starter and solenoid. It is better to buy a replacement from an auto dealer. It should be tested before buying.

Reinstall the solenoid and starter. All the connections should be tightened and checked before using the starter.

29.07.2011 - The Way For You To Repair The Ignition Distributor

Diagnosing and Treating Ignition Ills

The job of an automotive Ignition System is simple, it supplies a spark to the engine at the time it’s most needed. Fortunately today’s technology has stabilized and the newest cars at least have some logic. In addition, more modularized systems are installed in cars. Not even mechanics repair ignition systems, they replace bad components. By using a simple volt-ohmmeter, many problems can be tracked down and many ignition system problems can be solved.

Repairing Ignition Switch

The ignition switch of today has become more complex, earlier it was simple, three-position switch with Off, On and Start. The ignition switch is now linked to sensors, interlocks, anti-theft devices and the bank. The failure of an ignition switch typically is fortunately traced to a loose wire. This can be fixed if you can find it.

For repairing an ignition switch and wiring, follow this simple guide:

1. Locate the electrical schematic of your car’s ignition system. The schematic tells what is in the ignition wiring system such as sensors and interlocks, besides the switch. Usually it is printed in the car manual or an aftermarket service manual.

2. Visually inspect the ignition switch and wiring for any loose Test Instrument, burns or any other damage. It can be reconnected and replaced as needed.

3. An ohmmeter can be used to test the continuity of wiring and ignition switch. The defective parts have to be replaced as needed.

Replacing Sensors and Control Modules and Distributors

A car’s ignition system has many electrical components like sensors, control module and distributor.

For testing and replacing electronic ignition components, follow these steps:

1. Locate the car’s electronic ignition and distributor. It is also called ignition control module or ICM. It controls the ignition system and is mounted either within the distributor or nearby.
2. Move the ICM cover as needed, inspect it for any problems such as loose wires, cracked cap or rotor. It has to be cleaned and replaced as necessary.
3. Use an ohmmeter for testing continuity of each component. Locate the sensors and test it along with the ignition control module.
4. Remove and replace the distributor if necessary. Note the rotor’s exact position so it will help in reinstalling the new distributor with the rotor in the same position.
5. Document the required steps very carefully for easy reference.

26.07.2011 - How Does Pipeline Liner Work?

Pipe line corrosion resulting in leakage has been a frequent and common problem for Stabilizer Bar. But after the invention of brand new HDPE pipeline liner, most people were able to get rid of the repairing problems.

If you can change your old worn out pipeline liner with something more durable and reliable, like the modern plastic extrusion technology, then obviously you can minimize the leakage problems. These leakages are very common in our day-to-day lives and thus jeopardize our entire day’s schedule.

What is plastic extrusion?

It is a process of filtering molten plastic by transferring to a die, which turns into Temp Sensor after solidification with specific cross sections. This process is used to create a wide variety of plastic items like your tooth brush, computer keyboard, mouse etc.

Certain pressure and abrasion goes on within the cavity of extruder, resulting in extra heat generation inside the pipeline Tire Cover, without any external heating facility. It has been observed that during the plastic extrusion process, there is a lot of pressure and resistance created within the HDPE pipeline liner channel, which may force the heaters to shut down automatically. Nowadays, people are using cooling fans to maintain the heat or keep it at the appropriate limit that would support the process. Hence, the temperature within the HDPE pipe line are controlled at a desired level.

26.07.2011 - What The Principle Of Cylinder Liner?

When you will think of installing pipe line liners then make sure that you choose such a company which uses the most protective plastic extrusion method for HDPE pipeline Test Instrument and polyethylene liners. In other words, you should pick a company that is reputed for offering careful proper installation service, after thorough inception. The company should also offer on-time maintenance and also on-time rehabilitation for the entire network of liner pipes.

Different types Of Plastic Extrusion Process

1) Standard Plastic Extrusion – The plastic extrusion process begins when the Filter Paper are in the granulated form. And when the process is over it is found in a consistent form with prominent cross sections. Here, the filtered molten plastics are transfered into the die and then it undergoes a cooling process. The product is then either cut into sections or wound up on a mandrel (a type of spindle).

2) Sheet Extrusion – To get plain and even sheets of the materials some set of rollers are employed. At time two or more sheets of different compositions are rolled together to fuse it for some specific usage.

3) Blown Film Extrusion – The die develops a cylinder from the molten plastic, which is inflated with compressed air. Usually, thin pipes like straws, plastic shopping bags are created from the “blown film extrusion” process.

4) Jacketing Extrusions – Through this process coating plastics are developed. This type of plastic is used to cover or coat a product like wires. It is used as an insulator over the metal wiring.

There are other types of plastic extrusions done too. But these were some very common Timing Gear. Most of the time we have faced issues not only at home but also at office, which has ruined the entire day. The updated technology applied in this process is not only to reinforce the current pipeline liners but also to improve the quality of other regular plastic products.

26.07.2011 - Do You Know How To Change Wheel Hub Bearing?

Okay let’s get started.

Get all of your tools and supplies together before you begin and allow plenty of time to do the job.

Please take note that these are general instructions and consult the appropriate repair Cigarette Lighter for your vehicle.

Always think safety first whenever you’re working around machinery. Wear safety classes to protect your eyes and beware of hot objects, sharp items and hazardous materials. It is very, very important to never work on a car that is only supported by a jack, always place a sturdy foundation under the vehicle to prevent it from falling on you.

From this point on cleanliness is important. You do not want any dirt, sand or metal chips inside the hub.

1. Remove your disc brake calipers and caliper bridge to remove the Exterior Trimming Accessories.

2. Remove the bearing cap. This is a press fit and to remove it grab it with your channelocks and work it back and forth until it pops off. Be careful not to crush it.

3. Once the cap is off you will see a cotter pin, remove the cotter pin and remove the retainer ring. If your vehicle has a castellated nut, you will not have a retaining ring.

4. Using your channelocks or adjustable wrench, remove the nut from the spindle.

5. Next remove the outer wheel bearing and washer.

6. Slide the rotor or drum off the spindle.

7. Remove the grease seal and take out the inner wheel bearing.

8. Wipe all the old grease from inside the Shift Knob.

9. Remove the bearing races from the hub.

10. Take a punch with a flat narrow tip and place it on the back of the race.

11. Tap the race out, alternating from side to side so it comes out evenly and doesn’t get cocked in the hub.

12. Once it’s out, flip the rotor or drum over and do the same for the other race.

13. Clean the inside of the hub with some rags.

14. Make sure the spindle is clean as well.

20.07.2011 - Why water could instead fuel

If you own a car or a truck that runs on diesel, you will be experiencing a higher cost every time you stop at the gas station. Even though diesel is slightly cheaper than gasoline, its price increase is alarming. Due to the high global crude Transfer Case , any form of refined fuel prices are rising with it. How can a normal driver cope with this phenomenon. This article will share some ideas on diesel saving tips for your car.

One way to cut down on your diesel consumption is to convert your vehicle to run on water. Can water be used as an alternative to diesel? The straight answer to the question is no, it can’t. However, water is made out of hydrogen gas (H2) and oxygen. To harness the power element of water is to extract the H2 and use it as fuel for your car.

The extraction process is done through a process call electrolysis. Electrolysis has been used in industrial factories mainly for metal plating purposes. By running electricity between electroplates in water, hydrogen gas is produced. This H2 can be directed into your car Air Intake system. From the air Intake, H2 is pushed into the combustion chambers in the engine where it is mixed with conventional diesel vapor. The end result is a bigger force from the explosion in the chambers. In theory, with the same amount of diesel consumed and a higher engine power, you are improving your car mileage therefore saving costs.

Constructing your own electrolysis device is a simple process. Most of the parts are easily available from a hardware store. What you will need is some hand tools and a good instructional guide. To start saving on diesel consumption for your car, you will have to get your hands dirty and convert your car to use hydrogen gas as an alternative fuel source. With the current sky rocketing fuel prices, any idea that can save diesel cost will be a blessing.

20.07.2011 - Is it worth cold air intake?- How do you think about it?

As the price of gas goes up many people are looking for accessories or aftermarket parts to add to their cars in order to improve their gas mileage. One of the first and relatively inexpensive upgrade parts that will make an automobile hotter, figuratively, is a cool Air Intake. High-performance cool air Intake systems help engines run on the air by trapping and filtering the air as it comes into the engine. These air intake systems provide cool air coming through the grill or front fender of the car which is a more appealing option than grabbing warm air from under the hood. This works on a simple principle: cool air is denser than hot air. This means more oxygen is supplied to the engine, which works with the fuel to give the car more power thus making the engine work less increasing your fuel consumption.

As we know most people are frustrated with the skyrocketing gasoline prices. Many people want to get the best fuel consumption rate from their vehicles and rightly so. The only way to get the best gas mileage is by pushing your car around where you want to go. This is of course is not an option. However, there are a few things that can be done to get the best fuel consumption rate out of your car such as adding a cool air intake. When it comes to increasing the mileage of your car, the basic problem you will encounter is how you maintain your car and your driving habits without a cool air intake.

You can purchase performance kits that include all the hardware you will need to install your cool air intake system . When your system has been installed you may actually hear the air as it enters the filter. Many manufacturers claim that by using a Spark Plug systems you’ll actually get better gas mileage with your car.

20.07.2011 - The enhancer of your car ¨C could they perform well?

Are you a tuner? A true tuner that is…or, are you a rice boy? Yeah, you know what I mean. Serious tuners bring out the power in their cars while rice boys slap on every imaginable part to make their car look like a racer when in fact they are not. So, what does it take to bring out the power in your engine? Not a whole lot! Let’s examine some helpful performance enhancing parts for your vehicle to give it a truly tuned edge.

Sorry for the pejorative term. Enhancing one’s car is a very personal thing and no everyone’s tastes vary. Still, some enhancements add little to the car’s value and can, in fact, take away from its performance. So, here are a few things you can do to add some zap to your engine:

Go Green — Yep. Environmentally sound air filters are where it’s at. For between 40 and 65 bucks you can get the last Air Filter your car will ever need. Reusable, green air filters like those made by K&N bring out the performance in your car. Made of cotton gauze material, performance air filters increase acceleration and power as it provides excellent filtration. You’ll never have to buy another air filter again!

Chips ‘n Tuners — Get the most out of your engine’s performance by swapping out the power chip that came with your car for one that is truly enhanced. Jet Chips can go a long way to tune your car while a Hypertech tuner can do the same thing. With the latter product, you simply plug the device into your car’s under dash diagnostic connector and follow the instructions on the unit to raise performance. Later, if you want, you can detune your car quickly. Both products are street legal in all fifty U.S. states and will not void new car warranties.

Cold Air Intake — Installing this product will allow your engine to “eat” the air that it wants to eat. Cold air is thicker and denser and just what your engine needs to perform optimally. Install a cold air Intake and your car will be “tuned” to accelerate and perform with much more freedom. You’ll like the improvement in looks too as cold air intakes are a real “stand out” in any car’s engine bay. Oh, yeah, get a load of its cool intake sound too!

Amazing Exhaust Systems — A crowd favorite are some of the performance exhaust systems on the market. Borla, for one, offers cat-back exhaust systems and headers made of aircraft durable A-304 stainless steel. This product will help free up your engine’s performance resulting in horsepower gains from 5-15%! Yeah, you’ll have a real edge on the road now! Check out the cool exhaust sound too.

Best of all, all four products I mentioned not only give your car more power, but they will help to increase fuel mileage. That’s right a poorly performing engine actually acts as a drain on fuel economy, so you are actually helping to jack up fuel mileage by installing parts that really can make a difference!

19.07.2011 - The understanding of car solenoid

A Solenoid Switch is a control device that uses electro-magnetism to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. Its component parts consist of a coil, an iron shell, and a movable plunger. The coil is to carry the current and generate ampere turns, an iron shell is to provide a magnetic circuit while, the movable plunger is to act as the working element. When applying a solenoid, it is extremely important to consider the effects of heat, since for a constant voltage application; an increase in coil temperature reduces the work output.

When current flows through the coil conductor, it produces a magnetic field. The magnetic flux produced by the coil results in establishing north and south poles in both the core and the plunger. The plunger is attracted along the lines of force to a position at the center of the coil. The de-energized position of the plunger is partially out of the coil due to the action of the spring. When voltage is applied, the current through the coil produces a magnetic field. This magnetic Intake the plunger within the coil, resulting in mechanical motion.

Solenoids itself is energized by some other control device such as a switch or a relay. One of the major advantages in the use of solenoids is that a mechanical movement can be accomplished at a considerable distance from the control device. The solenoid can have large contacts for the control of high current. Therefore, the Brake Chamber also provides a means of controlling high current with a low current switch.

Custom Solenoids provides the best match for the mechanical load requirement, reducing excessive energy dissipation. Premature failure of the unit is reduced because of the resultant reduction in excessive impact. Wiring and connectors can exit the solenoid in the location as chosen, and various classes of insulating materials are available.

Basic plug and plunger configurations are flat, stepped, and 60 and 90 degree conical. Other configurations can be designed to conform to unique force/stroke specifications. A variety of coatings are available, including electroplate, anodize, or paint as per requirement.

In physics, the term solenoid refers to a long, thin loop of wire, often wrapped around a metallic core, which produces a magnetic field when an electric current is passed through it. In engineering, the term solenoid refers to a variety of transducer devices that convert energy into linear motion.

The term is also often used to refer to a solenoid valve, which is an integrated device containing an electromechanical solenoid which actuates either a pneumatic or hydraulic valve, or a linear solenoid, which is an electromechanical solenoid. A linear solenoid can provide up to 30 pounds of force from a unit less than 2-1/4 inches long.

19.07.2011 - The pressure relief of solenoid

Small pressure relief solenoid valves are electromagnetic devices that regulate the flow of a media, typically water or gas. Solenoid coils use energy to open and close the valve mechanically with the flip of a Wheel Cap . Sometimes they may use metal or rubber seals and even interfaces that allow you to control them more easily. A spring may also be used which holds the valve in an open or closed Drive Shaft when it is not activated. A diaphragm is used in order to keep the media from passing through the valve. The pressure is equal on both sides of the diaphragm which shuts the valve off from any flow.

As you can imagine, because small pressure relief Solenoid Switch have so many small working parts there is plenty of opportunity for things to go wrong. Although this is rare, it is sometimes necessary to know the basics of how to service them. If either of the holes in the diaphragm becomes clogged somehow, this can seriously impair the device from working properly. This problem can usually be fixed by simply opening up the valve and cleaning off the diaphragm and the seat it rests on. They can be opened up easily be simply unscrewing the bolts and separating the two main parts from one another.

19.07.2011 - Solenoid Valves - methods to relief the small pressure

One easy way that you can test whether or not your small pressure relief solenoid valves are working is to switch them on and off and listen for a click, which is the diaphragm raising and lowering. If you do not hear this click, then there is a good chance that it is not receiving electricity due to bad wiring or a faulty Door Lock . If the solenoid is no longer working do not try and fix it; if it is damaged it probably cannot be repaired and should simply be replaced. When searching for a replacement, you may be interested in Asco solenoid valves since they are the leading company in the industry.

The same can be said of the plunger that is typically found in Odometer Sensor . If it is sticking and causing the machine not to work, and cleaning it does not improve things, simply have it replaced. These plungers are sometimes kept in place with a spring, so when removing them make sure that the spring does not pop out and become lost.

If after cleaning your hydraulic Solenoid Switch valves and it turns out that they work perfectly now, then something in your water supply probably clogged it. It may be in your best interest to have a filter installed upstream of the valve so that this does not become a reoccurring event. Because the cost of replacing small pressure relief solenoid valves is more expensive than the cost of one of these filters, you will come out ahead in the end.

18.07.2011 - Do car maintenance – methods to it

If you review carefully it is certainly possible to do all this by yourself, as below-

You will need a complete car Tool Kit as provided by your car maker when you purchased the vehicle. This will usually consist of all the spanners that you might need.

The correct grade engine oil. Engine oil needs to be replaced every 5000 miles (This figure will change as per the car type and make. Check your car manual for your car.) The type and grade of oil required for your car can be found in your car manual.

To get started, a typical car servicing will involve the following steps-

o Hosting your car up to check the underbody. This can be done on a ramp or using a jack. A quick inspection of the underbody will let you know if there is any damage.

o When you are done with this, you will now need to replace the engine oil. Always remember that the engine oil should never be checked or replaced while the engine is running. To proceed, you will need to unscrew a bolt that is just below the engine oil chamber and drain the oil in to a pan. When all the oil has been drained you will need to screw the nut back in tightly. You can also change the Oil Filter and it is usually just adjacent to the oil chamber. Use the correct type and size as specified for your car.

o You can lower the car now and fill the new engine oil. Be sure that you do not pour excess oil over the dipstick mark as this is going to be very difficult to drain off. Wait patiently for the oil levels to settle.

o The other things you will need to check include the spark plugs. Spark plugs need to be cleaned periodically. Unscrew the spark plugs from the engine and clean them with a soft cloth. You will need to shine the plug contact points using sandpaper. Fit them back in, and now check out the Air Filter. Cleaning the air filter is easy and you can use your vacuum cleaner to do the job.

o You will also need to check out the suspension. Bump the car and observe how long it takes to settle. Ideally this will take no more than 3 bumps. Also check out for any spills, or leaks coming out of the shock absorbers.

With this done you are completed with the major servicing part of the car. The remaining things include oiling your doors and the hinges, checking if your lights are working, testing if your seat belts are working, and measuring the tire pressures (front and rear).

This might seem a long list to do but if you observe a typical car servicing process you will understand the nuances within no time. An easy way to proceed is by creating a check list for the different things will need to do. This way you can be sure of not missing out on any parts that need to be serviced

18.07.2011 - Tool kits for car pumping

You should always check you’ve got the right tools to hand before starting any work, and plumbing is no exception. Here’s a list of the ones you’re most likely to need, plus some essential items to help you cope with emergencies. Anyone living in a fairly modern – or modernized- house with copper or stainless steel water supply pipes and a plastic waste water system can carry out all routine plumbing maintenance and repair work with only a minimal Tool Kit.

In fact, many of the tools required for plumbing work will already be part of the general household or Car Tool Kit. But, if you plan to do a lot of plumbing work you’ll need a few specialized tools. Before buying any expensive new tool ask yourself how often you will need to use it. If the honest answer is ‘not more than once a year’ then you should seriously consider hiring it instead.

Spanners
You’ll need a couple of adjustable spanners for tightening up compression fittings – one to hold the fitting steady while you use the other to tighten it up. You’ll need them for many other types of fittings too.

A useful tool which can make life easier is the ‘crows-foot’ spanner. It’s used to undo the virtually inaccessible back-nuts that secure bath and basin taps in position. Unless you have a lot of room beneath the taps you’ll find it almost impossible to undo these nuts with an ordinary spanner.

Wrenches
Only wrenches are capable of gripping and turning round objects such as pipes. There are two types used in plumbing. The pipe wrench looks like an adjustable spanner but its lower jaw is able to pivot slightly, and both jaws are serrated. As you use it, the lower jaw is able to open just enough to grip the pipe, then, as you turn it, the serrations dig in, pull in the jaws and grip even tighter. The harder you turn, the tighter they grip, so they’re suitable for really stubborn jobs. Wrenches will only work in one direction; if you turn them the wrong way the jaws won’t grip and the pipe will slip round. The lockable wrench is slightly different. You adjust the jaw separation with a screw, then close them round the pipe, squeezing the handles to lock them on tightly.

Pipe cutters
You can cut pipes with a hacksaw quite successfully, but if you plan to do a lot of plumbing work you should consider buying a pipe cutter. The pipe is placed between two hardened rollers and a thin cutting wheel; the tool is then rotated round the pipe while the cutting wheel is screwed down into the metal. A pipe cutter always produces a perfectly Odometer Sensor and smooth cut – there is none of the rough metal burr that you’d get with a hacksaw. Yet it does round the end of the pipe inwards a little and the metal flange must be removed with a reamer which is usually incorporated in one end of the tool. Since pipe cutters need to be rotated round the rube they can’t be used to cut existing pipes fitted close to wall. So you will need a hacksaw as well.

18.07.2011 - All About Engine Bearings

Engine bearing is a component of engine which is located between to parts of an engine. However, it is not only a connection between the two parts, but a special object which meets a specific requirement.

It has two main functions. One is reducing friction between the rotating parts of an engine by having two lubricated different metals slide against each other. The other is supporting the crankshaft. This type of bearing also has various kinds. In order to keep the engines running smoothly, three main types of engine bearings should be applied.

The first one is the crankshaft main bearing on which the crankshafts rotate. It can be found in between the engine block and the crankshaft. And the oil film coating around the bearings is important to keep consistent to ensure the crankshafts continue to spin. Main bearings can be used in different kinds of engines, and the number used is also different. For instance, modern V8 engines have five main bearings while six cylinder engines have seven main bearings.

The second one that I have to talk about is the camshaft bearing that can be used to reduce friction with the rotation of the camshafts. What are the camshafts? They are long rods with various lobes sticking out that can either cover or uncover a valve in the engine. Besides, they are connected to the crankshafts directly or by a gear mechanism.

The last but not the least one is the connecting rod bearing which is the metal insert that protects the wear and tear in between the connecting rods and the crankshaft. The rods are the link between the pistons and the crankshaft. When the crankshaft rotates, it is the connecting rods that move the pistons down and up in their cylinder bores.

The above three kinds of engine bearings are different and each kinds of engine bearings have their own specialists. They are always corporate with each other. Thus, the engine can operate smoothly.
